Hong Kong Style French Toast (西多士)
A peanut butter filled French toast fried into perfect golden brown crispiness. This Hong Kong style French Toast is the ultimate option for a Weekends breakfast or brunch. A different take on the classic French toast, but even better if you ask me! It's packed with so much flavour. It's sweet, nutty, savoury and creamy all in one!
Typically made of milky white bread in square form and topped with sweetened condensed milk and syrup. This 'Cha Chaan Teng' item is a must-try in Hong Kong.
I still remember my very first time having a 'sai do si'. I was around the age of 6 and I was visiting my family in Hong Kong. My cousin took me to a Cha Chaan Teng and normally I would order a Hong Kong Style Club Sandwich. As they were out of stock at that time, my cousin recommended me to order a French Toast. And I have to tell you that it was surprisingly good for someone that doesn't have a sweet teeth! The syrup they put on top is so good. Very different than the syrup we serve in The Netherlands.
