Tzatziki

Tzatziki is a creamy cucumber yoghurt sauce/dip. A very appetizing and refreshing dip that you can pair with so many things!

Commonly it is served with grilled meat, vegetables or warm bread, but to be honest we eat it with everything in our household. Adding tzatziki to your dish is just heavenly. It's very easy to make, nutrious and it gives you a perfect Greek vibe at the dining table!!

With this delicious recipe, there will be no store-bought tzatziki anymore in your kitchen! Alter the amount of ingredients and make the consistency that you like the most! Simply adjust the ratio of cucumber/yoghurt/garlic to your taste.

Even if the traditional version is not calling for it, I always try to sneak in extra veggies to my dishes. My version of tzatziki is to add grated carrot. That gives it a extra crunch and sweetness to the sauce.

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 small carrot
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 tbsp vinegar white wine
  • 1 tsp chopped dille

  • Put the cucumber in a bowl and add a pinch of salt. Set it aside for a few minutes and let it release its moisture.
  • In the meantime, grate the carrot (same as the cucumber) and mince the garlic and dille.
  • Cucumber: Squeeze out the excess liquid with a cheese cloth or kitchen towel.
  • Combine and mix all the ingredients until a nice creamy sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Drizzle a little bit of olive oil and add a kalamata olive on top!

Notities

  1. Feel free to exclude the grated carrot if you want to make the traditional version. I can only promise you that it's worth it to include it!
